Half Yearly Sale: Discounted Blurbs
Wellington Leg New Years Day: your correspondent Heather DeMedici: The Earl of Watership Down is offering a half yearly sale on blurbs, it was reported this quiet Sunday by The Gastropod Society. Society spokesperson Ethelred Sonnenschirm had this to say: “It has become a New Year tradition for the Earl to discount his most precious blurbs in an effort to promote literacy. Most of the proceeds will dedicated to the Earl’s Own Stock Repurchase Programme as he seeks to regain control of WL Premier Publishers, currently a vanity press.”
One of the most renowned blurbs in the collection is, of course, gastropodal regarded by many observers as his signature blurb. “Using a form of the word as an adjective is genius,” remarked author and former madame Ignatia Burnham-Woods. “My memoir though out of print shocked the nation with its revelations.”
The earl’s collection will be on display at the Society’s offices above police headquarters on Boythatwas Close. Last year his blurb ‘redolent’ took the prize at the prestigious House of the Rising Damp annual competition held on the Royal Crescent in a driving rain. This is Heather DeMedici reporting.l
