Rumors of an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical based on the life of the earl swirled through the toney salons of Egg Upon Sticks late Wednesday. Despite rising domestic interest rates, and negative feedback from focus groups, Culture Editor Scooter thinks work has begun on the massive project. “The musical will focus on his early years as Margaret Thatcher’s literary advisor and some whisper, her paramour, while others speculate he remains a high ranking member of the kitchen cabinet.” The Wellington Leg Intelligencer reports the earl’s rhododendron garden viewed from space is a labyrinth that spells out the message completing the Burma Shave trilogy.

In other news Sara Gran is interviewed at Duane Schwierczynski’s Secret Dead Blog. Hit the link to the right. My right, of course. Sara hints at what her next book will be. Come Closer is Duane’s personal favorite; Duane is the author of Wheelman.

Cornelia Read and Lee Child are appearing this weekend at Poisoned Pen bookstore. Since misreporting Cornelia’s schedule earlier this month several reporters were reassigned to help Tim Rice compose the book for the earl’s untitled musical. Some of them are bitter, adding a melancholy note to the lyrics.

Tess Gerritsen has a revamped blog. Hat tip to JA Konrath for mentioning that. If you’re a wandering dry cleaner looking for a reading list, Sara, Duane, Cornelia, Lee, Tess and Joe have books for you.

  1. Only you could make Burma Shave, drycleaning, and Andrew Lloyd Weber funny. And SO TOTALLY FUNNY, at that. YAY!!!

  2. David Thayer says:

Cornelia, I hope we have your schedule straight at last. If you’re available, the Yankees need a left fielder Sunday. The game’s at Shea.
