Someone over at Grumpy Old Bookman wanted to know how David Thayer could have read previous novels of mine when Macmillan New Writing only publishes debut authors. The person implied that either Mr. Thayer was confused, or that something very fishy was up with MNW.

The answer is simpler than that: he's read my manuscripts.

And I've read and enjoyed his, and predict that some day a few of them will come tumbling into print all in one year, and people will say, "Man, that Thayer guy sure writes fast!"

When you check into the backstories of most authors, you find they were overnight successes that were five or ten years in the making.
