		<description>I used to pass Kurt Vonnegut on 1st Avenue in New York City. I'd always give him that kind of I-see-you-and-know-who-you-are, but-won't-make-a big-deal-out-of-it smile. 

He was a big deal to me. 

A long life. A productive life.

		<description>Vonnegut himself asserted that a book was only a book, and that assailing books or their authors was like (I quote from memory) "donning a full suit of armor and attacking a hot fudge sundae."

I've never been sure if he believed that or not. It was hard to tell with that man sometimes.</description>
